CON DAO ISLAND

97 sea miles off Vung Tau City, Con Dao is an imposing island that attracts lots of tourists to discover and enjoy its wonderful nature.
Con Dao Archipelago consists of of sixteen islands and islets, 185km off Vung Tau and 230km from Ho Chi Minh City. Con Dao’s total area is about 76 km2, of which Con Son island is the biggest one at 51,52 km2. The climate in Con Dao is quite cool, which is an ideal place for relaxation and for discovery tours. Con Dao has the coast of 200km with tens of beautiful wild beaches. Con Dao is attractive with the beautiful sickle-shape beach, the clear warm water, the colorful corals, and many wonderful seasides resorts such as An Hai, Dam Trau, Lo Voi, Suoi Ot, or Hon Ba...
On the other hand, it is a mistake to talk about Con Dao without mentioning its grievous but magnanimous history. On 1862 French Colonial Authority established Con Dao prison. From then, Con Lon became the prison incarcerating Vietnamese political prisoners with the infamous “tiger cage” system. |
